Formed in London late 1997, Resistance is Futile came together through a common love of extreme music and the psychological effects of sound and rhythm on the listener. They began experimenting with creating sounds and using various effects and delays, taking inspiration from movies, music, rituals, history and psychology. The early days involved collecting sounds from various sources, from dragracing engines, rituals and movies to vintage synthezisers.
1998 saw the release of their first EP, under the band name AFF. Self-distributed on their own label, DTR; mainly in the UK, this limited edition cassette release attracted the attention of noise freaks and industrialists in London's underground scene.
Throughout the late 90s and early 00s AFF's music gained the attention of gabbaheads, gothkids, noisehulligans such as 2nd Gen and the pure twisted in the UK and around the underground scenes of Berlin, Paris, Leipzig, Stockholm, Rotterdam and LA. Preferring to retain total control over their recording, AFF continued to self-distribute their EPs on DTR.
2005 saw the band relocate to Stockholm, and the introduction of visuals and vocals to DTRs music. Renaming the band Resistance is Futile, they are planning gigs in Stockholm and abroad this autumn.
A main element in a lot of DTR's music is fear. Fear is a natural food of mankind and our greatest stimulant. It has been removed from our lives by our society and those who seek to control us. We need fear to stimulate us into being whole human beings.
Rituals are an important part of Resistance is Futile. Through rituals in cellars, tunnels and woods, the human mind can return to the womb of the earth. Buildings serve as inspiration.
The use of psychedelic drugs combined with ritual music produces a higher state of consciousness, opening areas of the human mind that lessen the effects of brainwashing and mind control, and can help the individual connect with the vibrations of the earth.
